Travelling to Goldsmiths
Please see How to get to Goldsmiths for full directions.
If you decide to take a taxi, agree the fare with the taxi driver before getting into the car. Journeys of more than six miles (9.8 km), even in registered taxis, are not price controlled. We would advise you to always use Black Cabs. You should never hire a ‘minicab’ (private taxi) from anywhere except a minicab office. Taxis from Heathrow and Gatwick cost between £50 and £60, and you are advised to use public transport. Maps of the Underground system are available free of charge from underground stations.
From Heathrow Airport (LHR) take the Piccadilly Underground line to Central London, change at Green Park onto the Jubilee Line to Canada Water, then the East London Line to New Cross or New Cross Gate. Then follow the instructions given under the heading ‘How to get to Goldsmiths’, on the right. The Heathrow Express to Paddington is quick but more expensive. Information on taxis from Heathrow.
From Gatwick Airport (LGW) follow the signs for Trains. Buy a ticket to New Cross Gate, take the first train to East Croydon and change trains onto the Southern Trains service there for New Cross Gate. The times of trains and the platforms from which they leave are posted at the entrance to Gatwick Airport Railway Station. Information on taxis from Gatwick.
