In a message list, press the Menu key.
Click Compose Email.
In the To field type part of a contact name and select a contact.
Type a message.
Press the Menu key.
Click Send.
Note: To connect to the College Wi-Fi network, you will need to email sysadmin@gold.ac.uk to request that they configure the Wi-Fi system to connect to your BlackBerry.
- Switch on your BlackBerry. If it prompts you for a PIN number enter 0000 (four zeros) and press the return key (bottom-right on a BlackBerry Pearl). On your PC, go to the O2 website: http://www.o2email.co.uk/
- Click on Create a New Account.
- Tick I have read and understand the Legal Terms and Conditions, and click on I Agree.
- Enter your BlackBerry Device PIN and Device IMEI. You can get this information from your BlackBerry by going to the Options icon in the main menu, which looks like a spanner, and then clicking on Status. You need to enter this information exactly as it is displayed on your BlackBerry e.g.
Device PIN: 25648A6B
Device IMEI: 359381.01.734088.3
And click on Continue. - You will then need to setup an account on the O2 website using a username and password of your own choosing:
Username: <yusername>
Password: <ypassword> - Once you have logged in to the O2 website, you need to complete the details in under Set Up An Existing Email Account. Enter your Goldsmiths email account details:
Email Address: abc01ab@gold.ac.uk
Your email account abc01ab@gold.ac.uk should have a status ✔ to the left of it, indicating that the email account has been correctly setup.
Password: <your goldsmiths password>
Confirm Password: <your goldsmiths password>
And click on Next. - You can then edit the settings for this email account by clicking on the edit button next to abc01ab@gold.ac.uk.
You will need to do this to provide your Full Name (otherwise emails will appear to come from “abc01ab@gold.ac.uk”).
You can also apply a signature to your emails using this utility, in the box below.
You can get this information from your BlackBerry by going to the Options icon in the main menu, which looks like a spanner, and then clicking on Status.
The instructions for doing this are as follows:
Access the site http://www.o2email.co.uk/ with your web browser, and then log in using your personal account details (if you are unable to do this, please email csapps, and we will get O2 to reset your account)
a) Once logged in you should see your College email account name under the heading Valid Email Account - and if there is an icon displayed under the word Valid with a red line through it - simply clicking on this icon will result in it being displayed as a green tick, and will resolve the issue. You can then logout of o2email.co.uk.
or
b) You will need to click on the Edit icon to the right of your valid Goldsmiths email account listing, and simply clicking on the Save button for your College email details to resolve the issue, before logging out of o2email.co.uk.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you will need to delete and resubmit your College email details as described below:
Click on the Edit icon to the right of your valid Goldsmiths email account listing and copy your signature text from the Signature field
Click on the Cancel button
Click on the Delete icon to the right of your valid Goldsmiths email account listing, and OK to confirm
Click on the link No email accounts configured. Click here to add one, or on Setup Account if you have other accounts still in existence
Enter your goldsmiths email account details:
Email Address: abc01ab@gold.ac.uk
Password: <your goldsmiths password>
Confirm Password: <your goldsmiths password>And click on Next.

You will need to do this to provide your Full Name (otherwise emails will appear to come from abc01ab@gold.ac.uk).
Also you can apply a signature to your emails using this utility, in the box below, by pasting the text copied earlier, and by clicking on the Save button.
To paste the text is really the reverse e.g. move the cursor to the start of the paste location, and press the main menu button, and select Paste.

- Calendar: you can view your Oracle Calendar (Corporate Time) calendar by using the web browser in the BlackBerry and going to https://secure.gold.ac.uk/cst/ctime/login.cgi
You cannot:
- Contacts: synchronise contacts with your BlackBerry if using Outlook with Oracle Connector, as the current versions of the BlackBerry desktop manager software aren't compatible
- Calendar: synchronise your Oracle Calendar (Corporate Time) calendar with your BlackBerry calendar
- On the Home screen or in the phone, perform one of the following actions:
- Type a phone number.
- Type part of a contact name. Highlight a contact or phone number.
- Press the key.
To turn on the speakerphone, press the Menu key > click Activate Handset Speaker. To switch if off, repeat this process.
- In the address book, press the Menu key.
- Click SIM Phone Book.
- Press the Menu key.
- Click Copy All To Address Book.
Note: If you try to copy a SIM card contact with a phone number that matches the phone number of a contact that already appears in your address book, your BlackBerry device does not copy the SIM card contact.
On the Home screen or in the application list, click Set Up Wi-Fi.
Click Next on the Welcome to Wi-Fi Setup screen.
Click Scan for Networks.
Click Turn Wi-Fi On.
Click Goldsmiths network on the Available Networks Screen.
Click Finish to complete setup.
On the Home screen or in the application list, click Manage Connections.
Clear the check box besides Wi-Fi Goldsmiths.
In a email message, highlight a contact by placing the “mouse” over the From address.
Press the Menu key.
Click Add to Address Book.
Amend the contact information if necessary.
Press the Menu key.
Click Save.
A Pin Unlock Code (PUC) or Pin Unlock Key (PUK) is used to unblock a blocked card.
To find out your PUC/PUK code enter your College provided mobile telephone number in the text feild at the bottom of this web page and click Go: www.o2.co.uk/apps/getPUK/welcome

Support is only available for those BlackBerry devices which have been supplied by the College. Support includes:
- setting up the BlackBerry to receive College emails
- those whose College email service is interrupted, to ensure that the service is resumed
- basic level introduction to the operation of the BlackBerry (making calls and receiving College emails)
