Technical support for departmental computers

Staff should contact the IT Services Help Desk in the first instance for technical support. Calls will be passed to the IT Services technicians, who will visit or respond by phone as appropriate. This will include:

  • investigation of computer and printer problems
  • minor repairs
  • checks before maintenance call-outs
  • installing new computers.

The technicians should not be contacted directly, since each task must be logged through the IT Services Help Desk.

Departments should note that while IT Services technicians will check a faulty machine and may be able to correct simple faults, it is the responsibility of the department to ensure that they have warranties or maintenance contracts for their computers and printers to cover full repairs.
