Welcome to the Language Studies Centre
The Language Studies centre has specialised for over twenty years in English language teaching for academic study in creative and culture-related disciplines. While most students go on to successful study at Goldsmiths, some take our courses as stand-alone programmes. We welcome all international students whose first language is not English.The Language Studies Centre offers:
- Award-bearing programmes and pre-sessional programmes for international students;
- Academic Literacy and Study Skills for all students.
We currently have 6 academic members of Staff.

Entrance requirements
Information for international applicants
You’ll need to be able to demonstrate the required level of English Language competence to enrol on our programmes. We offer a Presessional English Language Programme which can help you achieve the relevant language proficiency, a Pre Masters Diploma in the Humanities and Social Sciences which will prepare you for postgraduate study and an International Foundation Certificate in the Humanities and Social Sciences
which prepares you for degree level study in these areas. Alternatively
you can sit and pass an approved English Language test and achieve a
required score.
