Other newspaper archives
The British Library has a newsroom at St Pancras, which should be the focal point for all researchers. It has access to microfilm, digital newspapers, broadcast news and news websites. For more information, click here. Printed newspapers have been moved to Boston Spa and are currently unavailable.
Public libraries are often an excellent source for newspapers. Most will subscribe to newspaper databases that universities don't. It's worth trying your local borough, and if you're a member, you should be able to access these databases with your membership details. Here are the closest boroughs to Goldsmiths:
Lewisham (Times Digital Archive 1785-2007, Illustrated London News Historical Archive 1842-2003, 19th Century British Library Newspapers)
Southwark (Library Press Display, Newsbank, Times Digital Archive)
Guildhall Library is a public library in the City of London and has an extremely extensive newspaper collection both in print and digital form
