Information for new students 2010
Welcome to the Library at Goldsmiths. Here are some resources to help you start your studies here.
Library podcast tours
Download our podcast tours onto your MP3 player and walk around the building, following the Stop signs.
Your Goldsmiths card and passwords
Goldsmiths Card - Get this from the Security Office after you have registered with the college. Your Goldsmiths card is for access to the building via the turnstiles, borrowing books, printing from computers and make photocopies.
Computer username and password - IT services staff will be giving out computer usernames and passwords at Registration or you can obtain this from the Helpdesk on the ground floor of the Rutherford building. You need these to access the Goldsmiths network, email and virtual learning environment plus electronic resources from off-campus.
Library pin number - This is initially set as your date of birth (DDMMYY). You need this to access your Library record via the internet, to reserve books and to renew your loans.
Library tours and information skills training
Your department will book a Library tour and information skills training for your course. Check in your department or with Library staff for the times and dates.
If you miss the booked sessions, tell Library staff and we will arrange both for you.
