Goldsmiths - University of London

What you can study

The Department of Music warmly welcomes international (non-EU) applicants. We offer a friendly and stimulating environment for our international students in a city that is not only one of the great musical centres of the world, but also one its most successful and diverse multicultural capitals.

There are plenty of opportunities for musical performance here at Goldsmiths, as well as a range of outlets for creative work, such as our superbly equipped Electronic Music Studios.

Although we expect you to be competent in the English language, we nevertheless work closely with the Centre for English Language and Academic Writing to ensure that you continue to get the right kind of support for your studies while you are with us.

If you have any questions and would like to get in touch with the department, please e-mail  music (@gold.ac.uk).

Goldsmiths offers several short-term programmes for international students as part of our Study Abroad programme. These programmes give you the opportunity to live, study and socialise with Goldsmiths undergraduate students for one or two terms, or the full academic year. You can be admitted as either an undergraduate or graduate student.

This one year programme gives students the opportunity to develop their English language, become familiar with UK academic culture, and prepare to study for a BMus in Music or Popular Music.

This programme offers access to further advanced study in Music for international graduates. It is designed specifically for international students who feel that a preparatory period of study is necessary in order to equip themselves further with the practical and academic study skills appropriate for study at MMus level.

In addition to the programmes specially designed for international students mentioned above, you can also apply to any of our full-time undergraduate or postgraduate Music programmes:

Undergraduate

Postgraduate (taught)

Postgraduate (research)

The Department of Music has a lively and varied research culture and offers research degrees in musicology (including contemporary music studies, music analysis and ethnomusicology), composition, and performance.

Goldsmiths provides support for international students through its International Office. The staff have considerable experience in advising on immigration, English Language, finance, accommodation, or any other aspect of being an international student at Goldsmiths.

Further details on tuition fees and funding opportunities (including details of our scholarship schemes for international postgraduate students) can be found at www.goldsmiths.ac.uk/costs.
