This year sees a dozen academics from Goldsmiths, University of London deliver an inaugural lecture to mark their Professorships.

Food for thought at Goldsmiths' inaugural lectures

A landmark moment in the life academic, the lectures give a platform for our new professors to explore the themes and thinking behind their work.

This year's series began with Professor Michael Archer, BA Fine Art Programme Leader in the Department of Art. His lecture Situation addresssed his journey through academia and teaching, tackling expresionist poetry, philosphy and race. It also involved buckets of ice and jam doughnuts for all 300 attendees.

Hosted on campus, the lectures are open to the public as well as all students and staff at Goldsmiths.
