Four global top 40 subjects for Goldsmiths in QS university league table

Art and Design at Goldsmiths, University of London has been ranked 11th in the world, based on reputation and research impact, in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The prestigious annual rankings list Media and Communications at Goldsmiths at 27th in its field worldwide, and Sociology has risen ten places to a global ranking of 35th.

Goldsmiths also appears in several subject areas not previously listed by QS: Anthropology is ranked 36th globally, while Performing Arts appears in the 51-100 bracket.

English Language and Literature has remained in the 101-150 bracket.

In the UK Goldsmiths is listed 2nd for Media and Communications, 3rd for Art and Design, 8th for Sociology and 9th for Anthropology.

Published annually since 2011, the QS World University Rankings by Subject are based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact. Some 4,226 universities were evaluated this year, with 945 institutions ranked in total. Over 113 million citation attributions were analysed by QS, and 15,530 programmes verified.

To feature among the world’s elite institutions in six subject areas, and to see many of those rankings rise this year - in Art, Design and Sociology - is an incredible achievement.”
