"I’m looking forward to having more independence and getting to know a lot of different people."

Main details

“I was born in New Cross, went to a New Cross primary school and lived in Lewisham all my life. Goldsmiths is one of those places which felt homely because it was here in Lewisham and I thought that when I grew up I would come to Goldsmiths because it was right here. Growing up your teachers send you in different directions but when I thought for myself I realised I wanted to study right here in Lewisham and that this was the right course for me. This fee waiver enhanced my desire to want to come to university.

I knew that university was part of something I wanted to do but I didn’t know I wanted to do it yet, so soon after sixth form. I found the course on the Goldsmiths website and then I found out about the Lewisham Fee Waivers. I thought; I live in Lewisham, I don’t have that much money, it’s just me and my mum so it would really benefit us if I could get this fee waiver. I’m looking forward to having more independence and getting to know a lot of different people.

Because I’ve lived in Lewisham so long you get used to knowing the same crowd and everyone knows everyone else but when you get to university you can meet different people from different places.”
