"The MA Arts Administration programme has opened doors for me to undertake a PhD in Music, and, hopefully, then embark on an academic career"

Main details

Occupation MA Arts Administration and Cultural Policy. PHD student in Music.
Country United Kingdom

I had a successful career in financial consulting and banking prior to deciding to make a career switch and go into performing arts fundraising. This MA at Goldsmiths was instrumental in helping me achieve this goal: I immensely benefited from the very insightful courses on various aspects of the arts industry and meeting the many industry people who came to talk to us as part of the course.

As a part-time student, I secured a year-long internship with the Development Department of the London Symphony Orchestra, the first half of which I spent on Individual Giving and Trusts and Foundations, and the second half is devoted to Corporate Partnerships. I am a huge fan of classical music, so this opportunity to really see in depth how a world-class orchestra manages its various relationships with supporters, engages with musicians and meets various artistic, financial and external challenges has been incredibly exciting and educational. I look forward to developing my career in arts fundraising further, as it is clear to me that I have found my calling.

The MA Arts Administration programme has opened doors for me to undertake a PhD in Music at Goldsmiths, and, hopefully, then embark on an academic career.
