Main details

Year graduated 2006
Occupation Movement Psychotherapist at CAMHS/NHS and Young People’s Therapist at Respond

At CAMHS I work in a tier 4 inpatient adolescent unit. I do Initial Therapy Assessments that are an important part of the multidisciplinary assessment process that young people go through. I then make referrals to one of the therapists of the Psychological Therapies team and attend ward rounds to discuss treatment strategies with other members of the multidisciplinary team. I offer individual and group Movement Psychotherapy sessions, write CPA and discharge CP reports that are essential for the continuation of the adequate treatment of the young people in the community. I have regular clinical supervision and line management meetings.

At Respond I am responsible for the Assessment of the children and young people I will be working with. I then offer long term individual psychotherapy sessions to children with and without learning disabilities that have suffered trauma and abuse. I have also done some forensic work at Respond and had the opportunity to deliver some training to our volunteer counsellors. I attend regular clinical supervision, line management, monthly team meetings and team dynamics.

Goldsmiths is a University that adopts a critical attitude and thinking towards contemporary issues. This has allowed me to develop my own interests in the area of dance movement psychotherapy while having my explorations stimulated and supported by highly qualified tutors from the STaCS department, guest tutors and very interesting colleagues from dance movement psychotheraphy students and those other courses.

The MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy was a very good training for my current jobs as well as a good complement of further study at the Tavistock and Portman. On a personal level, working and relating on such intimate level with my course colleagues has allowed for strong and lasting friendships to develop. Especially as a foreigner, having those bonds was very supportive and essential for the successful completion of my MA in DMP. Thank you my dear friends.
