This modular part-time programme is normally taken over two years. It prepares instrumentalists, composers and singers with a background in classical, jazz or popular music to work in the profession, or to continue higher education study. It gives you a thorough grounding in music theory and musicianship, and develops practical skills in performing, improvising, arranging and composing, or in the creative applications of music technology.

You take two core courses, and choose from options in performance, harmony and arranging, composition, music technology, improvisation, and world music. You study at your own pace and choose options to suit your particular interests and circumstances.

The programme is equivalent to the first year of undergraduate study. It offers progression (subject to application and interview) to the second year of Goldsmiths’ Music degrees, or to other music degrees.
