Professional and Community Education (PACE) is a UK leader in the fields of professional development and widening participation. Our Unit in Psychotherapeutic Studies has played a central part in the development of art psychotherapy as a profession. It also does innovative interdisciplinary work in the field of psychodynamic studies and group therapy and takes a lead in the teaching and research of rational-emotive and cognitive behaviour therapy.

PACE also houses one of the most popular social work units in the UK. It is a major contributor to research into social work and offers social work qualifications at undergraduate, postgraduate and post-qualifying levels.

We have a serious interest in lifelong learning and community engagement. Our research centre is committed to research and education in these fields and provides a focal point for many of our activities, including our innovative programmes of study in community and youth work. Performing arts and languages are both vibrant components in our delivery of relevant and engaging programmes of learning to London and the South East.

PACE attracts students from a wide range of backgrounds, from the local communities and also from across the country and from overseas. We aim to deliver high quality university entry, undergraduate and postgraduate education, taught through enthusiastic teaching and high-standard student support. We offer a range of programmes aimed at non-traditional learners with limited educational qualifications who want to work at undergraduate level.
