Standard entry requirements

Our minimum entry requirements are:

  • For Masters degrees, and Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates:
You should normally have (or expect to be awarded) an undergraduate degree of at least second class standard in a relevant subject.
  • For MRes programmes:
You should normally have (or expect to be awarded) an undergraduate degree of at least upper second class standard.
  • For MPhil/PhD programmes:
You should normally have (or expect to be awarded) a taught Masters in a relevant subject area.

If your degree is in an unrelated field, you may also be considered, subject to a qualifying examination; we may ask any applicant to take this examination. You might also be considered for some programmes if you aren’t a graduate, but have relevant experience and can show that you have the ability to work at postgraduate level.

We also accept a wide range of international equivalent qualifications. If you'd like more information, please contact the Admissions Office; if you're an international applicant you can visit our country-specific pages for further details.

If your first language is not English, please check our English language requirements

Specific entry requirements

In addition to the minimum entrance requirements outlined above, some of our programmes have specific entry requirements that need to be met before you can be considered for entry. Please check the relevant online prospectus page to make sure you meet the necessary requirements.
