The Doctorate in Professional Studies (DrPS) gives professionals working in the public services the opportunity to develop their intellectual capacity with a rigorous and demanding programme of study that can also improve their current work and future career prospects. The DrPS is a joint programme run by Goldsmiths’ Graduate School, and the Departments of Educational Studies, PACE, and Politics.

All DrPS students are supported jointly by their home Department and the Graduate School. In the first two years part-time (one year full-time) you follow research training programmes in Qualitative Methods, Quantitative Methods, and Researching Professional Contexts. These courses are taught in blocks of two or three days spread through the year, to make it easier for busy professionals to attend. You are also allocated two research supervisors, one of whom will be your main supervisor. They support your work in the first two years (part-time) as you follow these research methods courses and prepare the scoping study that you use for your upgrading to PhD status. In the final years of your study you work mainly with your supervisors to produce your final thesis and essay on the professional implications of your research.

Please see more information about Starting your research, upgrading to PhD registration, and submitting your thesis.
