Postgraduate funding for Masters and MPhil/PhD applicants

Kirsty MacColl Scholarship Award

The Department of Sociology/Centre for Urban and Community Research within the Department of Sociology has offered the annual Kirsty MacColl Scholarship Award for the past 15 years, in memory of singer and musician Kirsty MacColl.

This fees only award is made to one full time Home/EU applicant who has a confirmed place on either the MA Photography & Urban Cultures or MA Cities & Society programme.

In order to apply, offer holders must email their CV and a 1,500 word essay to sociology.masters@gold.ac.uk by 28 July 2017.

The award will go to the student who, in the 1,500 word essay, can best demonstrate the ways in which the award will enable their studies. The essay should respond to, and reflect on, the applicant’s own biographical interest in cities, as well as what the applicant wants to do in the future.
