"In a few words that is what I believe the MA gave me: Introspection, understanding that there are no boundaries between forms, ability to work on several project at once without feeling scattered, insight into developing my own methodology and the ability to reflect on it even in difficult situation when under pressure. Serious fun and extreme joy which for me are essential in artistic practices”.
Chirine el Ansary Storyteller, Egypt, France
"The MA allowed me to develop the tools and discipline to transform my practice from that of actor to performance-maker. Creative partnerships formed during the year continue to influence and enhance my work"

"The MA in Performance Making gave me the space, time and artistic rigour in a supportive yet critical environment to develop my work. Since then I have gone on to work nationally and internationally. Recent commissions since leaving college in 2005 include from the British Film Institute, Tate Modern and Green Room, Manchester"
Jiva Parthipan, Artist
"The MA Performance proved to be an extraordinary experience. The course out line is meticulously curated, encouraging a common dialogue and creates a fluid process that nurtures and informs each student. I felt carefully guided towards a complicit process that enabled me to apply my artistic discipline with freedom and exceptional support."
Lynnette Moran, Ireland
To put it simply, the year at Goldsmiths was a life changing experience. Meeting and working hands on with artists such as Maria La Ribot, Steve Paxton, Graeme Miller, Rose English and more introduced a completely new physical perspective into my work. Those encounters, combined with the wonderful opportunity of collaborating with students from different backgrounds and cultures still echo in everything I do professionally. If you are looking for a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-dirty kind of work, the MA led by Anna Furse is the place to be.

"Since I got back everything has been going extremely well for me professionally, I directed my first play at the National Theatre here in Iceland which was premiered in April. It was shown on one of the smaller stages and got really good reviews, immediately after the premiere I started getting a lot of directing offers. But the most surprising part was that I won Best Director of the Year for the Icelandic Theatre Awards, 2008. Now I have a contract at the Reykjavik City Theatre and this year I will direct Blasted by Sarah Kane which will be premiered in January 2009. I am the first woman to win this award and the youngest director to receive it. Mainly this means that I can now choose what kind of work I want to do and with whom. I wanted to share this with you because your vision and the performance making course was such a big part of this, thank you."
Kristín Eysteinsdóttir, Iceland
"The course gave us many opportunities to learn about performance making from various practitioners with their different point of views. I developed my own creativity through the year and, interestingly, discovered some similarities in disparate cultural performance forms, eventually developing a new impression of my background in Noh theatre."
Midori Sakaguchi, Noh performer, Japan
"The MA programme gave me both the time and environment to explore my practice, allowing for experimentation as well as providing directed training. The strong ensemble ethic created a safe context in which to be challenged. I am now working professionally as a solo and collaborative performer, assistant director and administrator in a range of international projects."
