The ethos of the Department is one which militates against a narrowly conceived, technical vocationalism. We aim to develop students who should be able to express themselves creatively and self-critically in theoretical and/or practice work. They should have an understanding of how the media work from a variety of disciplinary positions and be able to look for and develop opportunities to use their skills and learning across a wide range of professional occupations, including – though not exclusively – in the media.
Skills:
Understanding of the workings of the media and their broad cultural and social impacts; understanding of the pleasures of media consumption.
