Selection

In addition to the information contained in your application form and references, selection is by group or individual interviews either at the College or in a school. Please bring samples of your work to your interview. We make our decisions based on your enthusiasm, aptitude and commitment to teaching as demonstrated by your application form, qualifications, experience, reference and performance at the interview. Interviewing begins in the autumn, so we advise you to apply early.

There is no single model of the ‘ideal’ applicant, and applications are considered on their individual merits. We are looking for people with a genuine interest in – and enthusiasm for – teaching, and aptitude for working with young people and engaging them in learning. This can be demonstrated in a number of different ways: through experience of activities with young people outside school; evidence of continued interest in your subject; evidence of the ability to interact and communicate successfully with a range of people; evidence of the ability to organise and manage your time effectively.
