Pre-ceremony

What if I am in debt to Goldsmiths, University of London?

Students that are in debt to the College will not be presented; all debts must be cleared in full by the attendance confirmation deadline on 30 November 2011. You will not be eligible to attend if your debt is cleared after this date. Please note a library debt [amount tbc] will be counted as a debt to the College.

What do I do if I or any of my guests have a disability?

Please notify the Graduation team at the time of booking for any special requirements, i.e. seating and/or parking.

How do I confirm my attendance?


Your attendance will be confirmed via an online booking form on the Ede and Ravenscroft website, you will be able to purchase guest tickets (maximum of two) and book your robe hire using the same online form.

I’m going to be away during the run up to ceremonies, can my guests make arrangements on my behalf?

Due to the Data Protection Act we are unable to discuss your or your guest attendance with any unauthorised third parties. You are able to nominate one person to discuss your attendance on your behalf.

Is there a deadline to confirm my attendance?

Applications to attend the winter January presentation ceremonies will close at 5pm on Monday 12th December 2011.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

Your place at the ceremony is only guaranteed if your attendance has been confirmed by the deadline, applications to attend will not be accepted after the above date under any circumstances.

Why am I limited to only two guests?

All presentation ceremonies will take place in the Great Hall on campus. Due to seating capacity and health and safety reasons, guest ticket allocations have been limited to two per student.

Can I bring my younger sibling or child to the ceremony?

Yes, if the child is under five years old they can sit on the lap of one of your guests. Any child over the age of five will be expected to have their own guest ticket.

Will there be additional tickets available to purchase at a later date?

We are unable to confirm at this time. If additional tickets are made available you will be notified by email with instructions of how to purchase them.

Can I buy extra tickets on the day?

If additional tickets are available they will be available to purchase on a first-come, first-served basis, on the morning of the ceremony.

What’s included with the guest ticket?

It includes the presentation ceremony programme, ceremony attendance in the Great Hall and attendance at the post-ceremony reception.

Do I pay for my student ticket?

No, there is no cost for the student ceremony ticket.

I live outside of London, can we stay on campus for the ceremony?

Yes, we have rooms available located in our student residences. Full details available are available online here.

What if I can’t attend the ceremony, will I get a refund for the tickets purchased?

Refunds will only be made under the following circumstances: unsuccessful completion of your degree programme and extenuating circumstances. Supporting documentation may be required from your GP if you do not attend due to illness.

Please note refunds will take approximately six weeks to be processed.

Gown hire

Do I have to wear a gown?

Yes, all students are required to wear a robe to be presented.

Where do I hire the gown?

Gown hire will be available via the Ede and Ravenscroft website. They are the sole provider of robe hire to Goldsmiths, University of London.

Is there a gown hire deadline?

Robe hire must be arranged by 12 December at the very latest. Late booking fees will apply.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

Please contact Ede and Ravenscroft directly, as Goldsmiths is unable to help with any robe hire queries.

What is the cost of the gown hire?

The cost of robe hire for the day is from £44.00. The cost is dependent on your level of study. Full details are available on their website.

Photography

Do I book this in advance?

No, all photography can be arranged on the day of the ceremony.

What’s the cost?

Costs vary, dependent on your photography package.

Who is the photographer?

The official Goldsmiths, University of London presentation ceremonies photographer is Tempest.

When will I receive my photographs?

Please contact Tempest directly for this information.

On the day

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CEREMONY WILL BE RECORDED WITH SOUND THEREFORE ALL GRADUANDS AND SOME MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE WILL BE IDENTIFIABLE. CONFIRMATION OF YOUR ATTENDANCE IMPLIES ACCEPTENCE OF THIS.

What time should I arrive?


Student registration will open at 8am and close at 10am on the morning of your ceremony, we would advise early arrival to ensure sufficient time to collect your tickets and robe.

Where do I collect my ticket?

Student and guest ticket collection will take place in the Refectory in the Richard Hoggart building.

What time will the ceremony begin?

11am prompt.

What should I wear?

The dress code is smart dress.

Where do I collect my gown?

Gown collection will take place in rooms 142 and 143 in the Richard Hoggart building.

Where do I have photographs taken?

This information is tbc.

What time should my guests arrive?

Guests should arrive to collect their guest tickets by 10am.

Where do my guests go?

After collecting their tickets, guests should make their way to the Great Hall to be seated for the ceremony.

What time should we all be seated by?

10:30am prompt.

How long is the ceremony?

The ceremony will last approximately two hours.

What I am expected to do during the ceremony?

Just enjoy your special day!

If I’m late on the day can I still be involved in the ceremony?

We can not guarantee late arrivals will be presented, registration opens at 8am to ensure all students can be processed and seated on time.

What if my guests are late?

If your guest arrives late they will be asked to wait for an appropriate time to be seated in the Great Hall, they will not be seated in their allocated seats.
