Psychology programmes

We have the following programmes available:

Teaching in the Department

The department has excellent teaching standards, and was awarded 22 out of 24 in the 1998 QAA Assessment of Teaching Quality.

We are a well-established, expanding Department, currently with 24 full-time academic staff (including 8 professors and 1 reader), plus a distinguished panel of visiting tutors. We have a diverse student population, with around 400 undergraduate and 90 postgraduate students.

The department offers extensive computing facilities: 2 well-equipped teaching/research laboratories with 50 networked computers plus a dedicated postgraduate computer room, including a broad range of software.

Laboratories and technical support

The department has excellent facilities for teaching, research and laboratory work.

We have two undergraduate laboratories with a total of 50 networked computers which are used for teaching. Here, students can take part in computer-run experiments, learn to use statistical and word processing packages, access the World Wide Web and even design their own experiments for projects. There is also a room equipped with cubicles for students to run experiments.

The department has fully equipped, air-conditioned research laboratories for psychophysiological, cognitive and multi-purpose research. Additional research facilities include dedicated observational suites, and computing, video and audio recording equipment for studio or field research. We also have a psychological test library.

We have five excellent full-time technical staff, skilled in supporting these facilities for both teaching and research.
