Tom is interested in how affect taxes cognition and how the recent developments in the field of behavioural genetics can help us understand the factors that seem to be detrimental to cognition in e.g. educational settings. He uses neuroscientific, quantitative genetic, and longitudinal approaches in his research. Tom is a part of the International Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Investigations into Individual Differences in Learning (InLab) based at Goldsmiths; Tomsk State University (Russia); The Accessible Genetics Consortium (TAGC) based at Goldsmiths; and the International Centre for Research in Human Development (Russia).
At Goldsmiths he teaches Advanced Statistics to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, and he runs tutorials for first and second year Undergraduates.
