Special study areas

Silent study areas

In all areas of the RB you must ensure that you not disturb the work of others, but the following areas in the RB are specifically set aside for silent study:

  • The 1st & 2nd Floors of the Library
  • All Computer Teaching Rooms (when not in use for teaching)

These areas are clearly signed Silent Study Area.

Group study areas

If you need to discuss work, there are two areas set aside for group study:

  • The Social Learning Space on the Ground Floor – this is available to all users without formality.
  • The three Group Study Rooms on the 2nd floor.

Laptop areas

Laptop computers may be used in the RB, but only in the designated areas:

  • In the Social Learning Space on the Ground Floor
  • On the 1st Floor of the Library by the School Practice Collection
  • On the 2nd Floor of the Library.

For reasons of electrical safety, users must not attempt to connect their own equipment to the mains supply, except where notices where notices explicitly state that this is permitted.

Tutors who need to connect their own computer equipment for teaching in the RB should contact the Computer Help Desk in the first instance, well in advance of any class.
