Records Management

The College has recently taken steps towards establishing a more corporate approach to records management.

Planning for the future of records management has regard to the dual goals of improved internal efficiency and legal compliance, taking into account the Section 46 Code of Practice published under the Freedom of Information Act.

Information Management and Systems Committee, established with effect from 1 September 2008, has responsibility in the areas of records management, strategic development of the IT infrastructure and compliance with information legislation.

In 2009 the College recently commissioned an Information Audit of all its records, with a view to the creation of a corporate Retention Schedule for all categories of written material held, and to facilitate the scoping of future actions in the records management area. It is also working towards the creation of a Records Management Strategy, the Aims for which were approved by Council on 25 March 2010.

[See more information about the Information Audit and followup, and Extract from the Minutes of Information Management and Systems Committee  (25 February 2010)]

Records Management Policy was approved by Council on 1 December 2009.

Concurrently with this, projects are under way to establish a new Student Records System, and to update the finance system, Agresso.
