6.1 Student categories for fees purposes are as defined in Regulation 1.
6.2 Fees shall be reviewed not less than once per year and under arrangements approved by the Council; fees shall be published by the College as soon as they have been determined.
6.3 In determining fees the following principles shall apply:

| Full-time | The fee set for the full-time programme, or the relevant proportion (one or two terms) for a full-time student not enrolled for more than two terms. |
| Part-time | The fee set for the part-time programme, or the relevant proportion (one or two terms) for a part-time student not enrolled for more than two terms. |
| Research (completion status) |
A proportion of the normal tuition fee, to be decided annually, for a period of six months and exceptionally for twelve months; thereafter the normal first year fee for the programme. |
| Programme interrupted | No fee for the period of interruption. |
| Deferred or referred examinable element | Half the fee set for the relevant part-time programme. |
| Visiting Student | The fee to be determined by the College. A Visiting Student attending for less than one year will normally be charged for the autumn term: 45% of the appropriate fee; for the spring term: 45% of the appropriate fee; for the spring and summer terms: 66% of the appropriate fee. |
| Associate Graduate Student of the College/Associate Research Student of the College | The fee to be determined by the College but which will normally be the full-cost postgraduate fee for the relevant subject area or an appropriate proportion. |
| Occasional Student | An appropriate proportion of the relevant EU fee. |
| Graduate or Registered Teacher | No fee - funded by the appropriate government Department. |
6.4 Students will be held responsible for the payment of their own fees unless the College is satisfied by documentary evidence that another body has accepted responsibility for payment on their behalf.
6.5 In accordance with legislation in force students who cannot be exempted under provisions for European Union students will normally be required to pay a higher fee (an 'overseas fee'). Where such students have permission to reside in the UK for the period of the programme concerned (other than as a student undertaking a full-time programme of study) and are permitted to enrol on a part-time programme of study, they will normally be required to pay half the higher fee (the 'overseas fee') for the programme concerned. Overseas research students residing predominantly overseas while undertaking their studies will be charged a part-time overseas research fee.
6.6 With respect to the level of fee to be charged to an overseas undergraduate student (defined by the Education (Fees and Awards) Regulations 1983 and subsequent amendments) a full-time programme shall be charged within five fee bands which broadly fall into the following categories:
(a) 'Higher Cost': BA Fine Art (Studio Practice & Contemporary Critical
Theory), BA Textiles, Fine Art/Textiles Extension Degrees, BA Art
Practice
or
(b) 'High Cost' (two fee bands): a programme charged at the undergraduate
rate whose content includes 50% or more of a subject in the following
list:
Fine Art & History of Art, Community and Youth Work, Computer
Studies, Design, Drama, Mathematics, Media and Communications,
Psychology, European Studies, Social Work
or
(c) 'Low Cost' (two fee bands): a programme not classified as Higher or High Cost.
6.7 A programme which is deemed to require twenty-one hours or more per week of prescribed and personal study shall be full-time and a student on such a programme shall pay the appropriate full-time fee.
6.8 Periods of placement or practical experience away from College constituting an integral and compulsory part of a programme shall normally be charged at half the normal fee for the programme in question.
6.9 Students who are responsible for payment of their own fees are required to pay such fees in full at enrolment except that payment by instalment may be made in the following cases:
(1) where a student is following a part-time programme which lasts not less than one year.
(2) where, in exceptional circumstances, approval has been given by the appropriate College officer.
6.10 Payment of fees may be made by cheque, by credit transfer, by making one credit card payment, or by instalments. Payment by instalments may only be made by direct debit. Details of this may be obtained from the Fees and Awards office in the Registry.
6.11 Council may from time to time approve charges in addition to standard fees.
6.12 There shall be a discount scheme, applicable only to certain levels of tuition fees, whereby a student shall be eligible for a percentage discount on full payment of tuition fees either at or before enrolment. The rate of the discount will be approved annually by the College Council and the level of tuition fee at which the discount shall be applicable will be published annually in the Information for Students booklet.
6.13 There shall be a penalty scheme, applicable to all students, whereby a fixed penalty will be charged in all cases where a student has failed to enrol on or before the due date for enrolment notified to them by the Registry.
6.14 A fee shall be charged for handling when a cheque is returned unpaid or when a student requests that a cheque be not presented on its due date. In the latter case the maximum permitted deferment without further penalty shall be two weeks.
6.15 A fee shall be charged for re-entry to examinations; such a fee may be refunded, if the candidate subsequently wishes to withdraw, less £15, provided a written application is received not later than four months before the start of the examinations.
6.16 A late entry fee shall be charged for each examination entry submitted after the closing date published by the College.
6.17 A fee shall normally be payable for the replacement of an enrolment/library card, and for the replacement of a Council Tax Exemption Certificate.
6.18 For each transcript issued at the request of a present or former student of the College a charge shall be made.
6.19 A fee shall be charged for an Associate Borrower ticket for the College Library.
6.20 A fee shall be charged for the submission of a Registration Assessment Form after 1 January in any academic year.
6.21 A fee shall be charged in respect of any overdue tuition fee.
