Creative and Cultural Industries

Goldsmiths has an enviable international reputation for innovative work right across the spectrum of the creative and performing arts - including art, design, media, music, drama, and creative writing. Politically challenging, socially aware, technologically innovative, our creative work combines radical ways of thinking about the world with a lively engagement with a wider public.

We are also at the forefront in our understanding of the creative and cultural industries, in an international context and in the changing world of digital convergence. Our expertise extends to China and the Far East, India, Russia and South America. Many of our research centres are at the heart of this research:

Gerald Lidstone, Head of the Arts Administration and Cultural Policy unit, acts as a government consultant on arts organisation and management, with recent projects in Slovakia, Ukraine and Viet Nam. He is a co-founder of the new UK Cultural Policy and Management Network, and has also worked on West End box office data for the Society of London Theatre. He is currently developing a new Goldsmiths Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship (ICCE).
