Attending one of our free summer schools will give you a valuable taste of the subject you'd like to study, and an insight into life as an undergraduate student. They offer an inclusive, empowering and experimental space for you to develop your creativity and confidence.

All of the summer schools run in the first two weeks of July. Please note that these summer school programmes are for UK students only. Find out more about our international summer schools.

Non-residential summer schools 

Our non-residential summer schools are free of charge and open to 16-18 year olds currently studying in London Boroughs and areas local to Goldsmiths.

Fine Art

Tuesday 4 July to Friday 14 July 2017

Explore different art forms including textiles, painting, photography, video and sculpture in your Goldsmiths studio, whilst working alongside other artists and Goldsmiths students.

This will lead to a final exhibition of your work at Goldsmiths.

Media (Animation and Illustration)

Monday 10 July to Friday 14 July 2017

Experience working in a state-of-the-art media suite. Learn all the skills needed to produce a short animation piece and work alongside experienced animators, film-makers and illustrators.

 

Music

Monday 10 July to Friday 14 July 2017

Enjoy a week of practical music making, workshops and a range of taster sessions covering digital music technology, folk and urban music. All sessions will be led by professional musicians and the summer school will culminate in a final performance piece.

Theatre and Performance

Monday 10 July to Friday 14 July 2017

Enhance your production and performance skills using our outstanding theatre/studio spaces, working with professional theatre artists and Goldsmiths teaching staff. Explore new ways to create a short performance and end the week sharing your final piece at Goldsmiths.

3 day summer schools

For the following 3-day summer schools, we're offering a combination of residential and non-residential places. For residential, you will be offered accommodation in one of our student halls, and for the non-residential day places, you'll need to travel into Goldsmiths each day to attend.

These summer schools are free of charge and open to any 16-18 year old currently studying in the UK.

Anthropology

Tuesday 4 July to Thursday 6 July 2017

Delve into social, digital and visual anthropology through practical workshops exploring how anthropologists capture human diversity in writing and in films, the ethical problems encountered in fieldwork, and the unspoken rules that govern behaviour on social media.

 

Marketing and Economics

Does money rule the world? Really? Discover alternative ways to understand economics. From examining the factors of the economic crash to understanding global consumers within the global market, we aim to challenge your understanding of marketing, consumption and economics.

Psychology Research

Tuesday 4 July to Thursday 6 July 2017

Want the opportunity to take part in Psychology research? Get first-hand experience, and discuss the application of current research methods. You will then design, collect and analyse your own small scale observational study.

Visual Cultures

Tuesday 4 July to Thursday 6 July 2017

Focusing on contemporary themes such as the city and gender and education, you will understand how certain materials can and have been mobilised around particular social questions, whilst devising your own plans for an exhibition on campus.
