About the course

The online course leads to a PRINCE2 Foundation Level qualification. Staff study at their own pace at their desk or any computer terminal, guided through each module (taking around 7 to 12 hours depending on personal study speed and preference).

There is the opportunity to assess progress at any time by taking mock tests online. Once they feel confident that they can acheive an 80% pass mark, Staff Development will book them onto their final test. This is an invigilated paper-based test either done at the London premises of ILX (our training provider) or in a group session at Goldsmiths run by ILX (dependant on numbers).

The course itself is free to staff providing they have sponsorship from their department to fund the test fee and possible purchase of a manual. Manuals are also on loan from Staff Development and can be shared within teams and work groups. Approval should be sought from your line manager so that current workloads and requirements can be taken into account and the appropriate time given for you to complete the course.

What is PRINCE2?

PRINCE2 (Projects in a Controlled Environment) is a structured project management method based on experience drawn from thousands of projects - and from the contributions of countless project sponsors, Project Managers, project teams, academics, trainers and consultants.

The PRINCE2 course will help answer questions frequently asked by people involved in project management and support roles:

  • What is expected of me?

  • What does the Project Manager do?

  • What do I do if things don't go according to plan?

  • What decisions am I expected to make?

  • What information do I need or must I supply?

  • Who should I look to for support? For direction?

  • How can I tailor the use of PRINCE2 for my project?
