Who is this workshop for?This workshop is aimed at those members of staff who give presentations as part of their role or who would like to develop their skills to gain confidence and expertise in public speaking.
About the workshop leaders
Guy Michaels and David Windle together form Opposite Leg Creative Company. Both are professionally trained and experienced actors and fully qualified teachers. Their work includes helping professionals to improve communication and presentation skills, including how to develop 'presence' and successfully engage their audience.
Outline
Through full group involvement and discussion, practical activities and individual coaching, this workshop will help you improve your presentation skills and discover your own unique 'performance' style. The workshop will include work on voice and 'presence', self evaluation as a presenter, how to maximise impact and find the story, the importance of authenticity and relevance, how to use different approaches to engage with the learning styles of your audience and how to control anxiety and deal with nerves. Effective use of tools such as PowerPoint will also be addressed. Participants will finish the workshop with a portfolio of performance skills upon which to draw.
Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Confidently plan and deliver presentations in the work context
- give presentations that make an impact on their target audience
- control anxiety and nerves
- utilise their own personal performance style and creativity.
