Urban Voids
“The time may soon come when planners, designers, developers and others will recognize and act on the simple notion that the spaces between buildings are as important to the life of urban man as the buildings themselves.”
-Serge Chermayeff and Christopher Alexander
London is officially the largest urban area in the UK, with an estimated population of 7 million. However, is space in London being used effectively? Our city contains a maze of small, empty spaces that are ignored as potential places of regeneration due to their size. Urban Voids is a project that explores the potential of gaps, cracks and holes found throughout the fabric of our city.
