Domestic to Dramatic

Storytelling is an important tool for education and escapism from our daily lives. Many classic fantasy based stories can develop into a strong sense of nostalgia for many, and a link to childhood memories. The use of stories and the roles that characters of such narratives have upon our sense of reality and surroundings may appear at first surreal, but have a deeper route into our every lives.

Taking inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and using design to look at how characters can be formed through the use of an everyday objects, such as a teacup, to enhance the characters from the book and create new narratives. Through the manipulation and use of the tea set individuals will be able to feel like those of the story in a social sitting, and experience the characters in a playful manner.
