Memory and Perspectives

Memories form the backdrop to our lives. The faculty of memory helps us to learn and is linked to our imagination, memories also contribute to our individual identities and can become the most precious belongings we have of our lives.

This project explores the individual’s memory and its subjective perspective. A group of people will have different accounts of memory of the same event. As we record and remember events in our minds, we imprint our individuality on it. With time, however, memories are vulnerable to change and even the perspective in the individual’s memory can alter; remembering can turn into an action similar to watching a film of you. Memories, like photos, can fade and be eventually forgotten. How does one cope with the fragile nature of memory? What happens to our memories as more information is stored digitally?
