Enrolment for applicants and new entrants

What is enrolment?

Enrolment is the process by which you formally join your programme of study, confirm the details you provided on your application and on which an offer of a place to study was made, and accept the 'terms and conditions' of studying at Goldsmiths. It's also an opportunity to meet other students who will be enrolling on your programme of study.

Continuing students joining the second or subsequent year of their programme should enrol online.

When is enrolment?

The Enrolment Timetable lists the date and time at which students on undergraduate or postgraduate certificate, diploma or degree (including Masters and PhD) should enrol. You must attend enrolment at the time specified and allow at least 1 hour to complete enrolment. If you are unable to enrol on the date specified please contact student-records@gold.ac.uk to arrange an alternative time. If you fail to enrol within 28 days of the start of session or your agreed start date you may not be permitted to enrol and may be liable to pay a penalty for late enrolment.

How do I enrol?

The Enrolment Timetable lists the date and time at which you should enrol. Please ensure you bring:

  • a pen;
  • proof of identity - either your passport, drivers licence photo-card or national identity card;
  • proof of qualifications - either certificate, transcript of results or formal notice of award issued by your previous institution confirming the qualifications on which your offer was made; and
  • payment of tuition fees or proof of sponsorship/student loans.

If you are an international student (non-EEA) we are required to take photocopies of your passport and evidence of your visa to study at Goldsmiths or your leave to remain. This will be either a vignette or stamp in your passport or your UK Biometric ID Card. If you have applied, but not yet received your visa to study at Goldsmiths please bring evidence of your application. International students who are unable to show a visa to study or evidence of their application will not be permitted to enrol.

Please note that we are only able to accept original documents, i.e. photocopies are not accepted.

Subject to satisfying all conditions, you will be issued with a Goldsmiths Card. Students unable to meet any of the enrolment conditions outlined may be provisionally enrolled and allowed 28 days to complete enrolment. Failure to complete enrolment will result in access to College services being suspended and the offer of a place being withdrawn.

Can I enrol online or by post?

if you are studying for either an undergraduate or postgraduate certificate, diploma or degree (including Masters and PhD) you must attend enrolment when you commence your programme of study. The Student Records System (SRS) is being developed to enable new entrants to complete some elements of enrolment online in future, but they may still be required to attend enrolment and show proof of identity and qualifications in person.

Currently, some students enrolling on a non-credit bearing course or modular credit do not have to attend enrolment and can enrol by post - please contact student-records@gold.ac.uk for further details.

Do I have to pay tuition fees at enrolment?

At enrolment you should be prepared to either:

  • Complete a Direct Debit mandate to pay tuition fees in monthly instalments; or
  • Pay your tuition fees in full by cheque or credit card;
  • Show formal proof of sponsorship or loans.

Failure to pay any fees on demand will result in your access to College services being suspended, and your enrolment may be withdrawn.

Further details on tuition fees and options for payment (including online payment) are published online or contact fees@gold.ac.uk if you have any questions.

When do I get my class timetable and reading lists?

If they have not already been sent, you will be able to get further information about your course, including timetable and reading lists, from your academic department once you have enrolled. Further contact details and information on departmental inductions are available online.

When can I get access to a Goldsmiths IT account?

To set up a Goldsmiths IT account please visit My Account. You can also upload a digital photo of yourself for use on your student ID or Goldsmiths Card, please visit My Photo.

Please note that you are only able to access these services if you have formally accepted an unconditional offer of study at Goldsmiths, i.e. you have signed and returned an acceptance sheet. Your 8-digit Student Reference Number is printed on top of the joining instructions sent by the Admissions Office.

If you experience any difficulties using these services, please email csapps@gold.ac.uk, quoting your name, date of birth and 8-digit Student Reference Number.
