About Goldsmiths

A bit of background

Goldsmiths was founded in 1891, and has been part of the University of London since 1904. The various academic departments and smaller centres and units interact to give us a unique approach to creative, cultural and social subjects. And joint teaching and research ventures mean that you benefit from the excellence of departments across the College.

Goldsmiths is all about the freedom to experiment, to think differently, to be an individual. We bring creative and unconventional approaches to all of our subjects, but everything we do is based on the highest academic standards of teaching and research.

We hope to provide the sort of facilities you need, yet the College isn’t so big that everything seems impersonal and unfriendly. This is a lively, welcoming place with a strong campus feel – and there’s always something going on; theatre performances, concerts, and exhibitions, as well as entertainment programmes in the Students’ Union and the University of London Union. We are proud to welcome students from a wealth of cultures, age ranges and backgrounds.
