ISBN 0-9542330-5-0
Written and designed for THEATRE CENTRE with Arts Council funding. This was a visual-text piece on eating disorders targeting audiences of 13+. Directed by Rosamunde Hutt with music by Graeme Miller, the piece toured extensively to UK Schools and theatres including the Sherman Arena, Cardiff. It subsequently was invited on 2 British Council tours to Malaysia (2000) and the Philippines (2001), playing to the general public as well as social workers and educators. The tour was accompanied by workshops and talks. After publication the place was produced by THE NEW CONSERVATORY THEATER, San Francisco in 2003 and is currently still in repertory in its Youth Aware programme.
“This one-woman show is a theatrical Alice in Wonderland -like journey through time. The play examines our relationships with our bodies through the ages, and how the media and our peers have influenced the way we view ourselves. Appropriate for young men and women, this program highlights the importance of self-esteem and a strong sense of self. The dangers of diet and beauty fads are also explored.”
