We ask for certain qualifications which meet Goldsmiths' general entrance requirements; these are listed in the table below. We may also ask for additional qualifications – these will be listed on relevant online prospectus entries.
If your first language is not English, please see our English Language requirements.
Meeting the entrance requirements for a particular programme does not in itself guarantee you a place. Application for our degrees is competitive, and although we consider all those who meet the general entrance requirements, we receive more applications than there are places. Please see our frequently asked questions for more information about selection procedures.
|A-levels||Passes in two subjects, including one full (A1+A2) A-level (preferably directly relevant to the subject you intend to study) plus either:
- One or two additional full A-levels or
- Three to five A1-levels in different subjects or
- A combination of the above.
[Certain A-level subjects may not be counted if they are not approved for entry to a particular degree or if they are offered with another A-level where there is significant content overlap.]
|Vocational A-levels||All vocational qualifications are considered, particularly where they are appropriate for programmes with a vocational emphasis. Applicants for non-vocational programmes may be asked to demonstrate appropriate subject knowledge.|
||We welcome applications from students taking the Diplomas, and will consider any such applications alongside those from students with other Level 3 qualifications. Offers made to Diploma students will be conditional on achievement at a level which corresponds to our published standard offers. Applicants will usually be required to complete the Advanced Diploma and an appropriate subject mix within the Additional and Specialist Learning.|
|Other qualifications||Your application will be considered if you have qualifications which are equivalent to A-levels – for example, the Scottish Certificate of Education, Highers and Advanced Highers, BTEC National Certificates and Diplomas, and Access courses or Open University credits.
We welcome the introduction of the Extended Project AS Level and we encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity if it is offered. We recognise the value of this project in preparing students for higher education, particularly in relation to the development of the independent research, analysis and writing skills that are so necessary for successful university study. Applications from candidates who, in addition to appropriate Level 3 qualifications, have completed (or are due to complete) an Extended Project on a relevant topic will be favourably considered for a place.
European and international qualifications
Passes at an appropriate level in the European and the International Baccalaureate satisfy the general entrance requirements, as do many European school-leaving qualifications and other international qualifications.
