3 MPhil / PhD Fee-Waiver Bursaries in Visual Cultures
Department of Visual Cultures
Goldsmiths, University of London
The Department of Visual Cultures is inviting applications for the following bursaries, tenable from 1 October 2011:
1 x one-year bursary (open to incoming students)
1 x one-year bursary (open to current students)
1 x three-year bursary (open to incoming students)
Deadline for applications: 4pm, Tuesday 17th May 2011
For the award holder of a one-year bursary the department will pay the full-time Home/EU tuition fee otherwise payable by the student, which for 2010-2011 was £3,440.00. This award is open to applications from incoming students who have been awarded a full-time place on an MPhil / PhD programme in the Visual Cultures department commencing 1 October 2011, and to existing students currently undertaking a PhD in the department.
For the award holder of a three-year bursary the department will pay the full-time Home/EU tuition fee otherwise payable by the student for three years, which for 2010-2011 was £3,440.00 per year. This award is open to applications from incoming students who have been awarded a full-time place on an MPhil / PhD programme in the Visual Cultures department commencing 1 October 2011.
We also welcome applications from international students for all bursaries, however the award will not exceed the value of £3,440.00 per annum. In this instance, the bursaries will comprise fee-discount awards rather than full fee waivers.
Programmes covered by this bursaries scheme include MPhil / PhD Visual Cultures, MPhil / PhD Research Architecture, and MPhil / PhD Curatorial/Knowledge.
In order to apply you should send a detailed proposal of your research (1500 words maximum); a short personal statement of no more than 500 words; and a CV. NB You must have first been awarded a place on one of the above programmes before applying for a bursary.
Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence and preparedness pertinent to the student’s stage of study. Consideration will also be given to allocation of awards across the spectrum of subjects studied within the department.
The award cannot be held in combination with an award from a Research council or similar body.
The deadline for applications is 4pm Tuesday 17th May. Notification of successful award holders will be made by Wednesday 8th June 2011.
