My Role at Goldsmiths
I was appointed as Pro-Warden (Students and Learning Development) in 2004 and I am the member of the Senior Management Team with responsibility for Learning and Teaching and the Student Experience. I also have strategic responsibility for matters concerning assessment and quality and standards. I am also responsible for overseeing five academic departments (Computing, Music, PACE, Psychology and Sociology) and for the Goldsmiths Learning Enhancement Unit.
I Chair the College’s Learning, Teaching, Quality Committee, the Student Committee and the Standards Scrutiny Sub-Committee. I take the lead in the implementation of the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy and the Student Experience Strategy.
Background
I joined the Department of History at Goldsmiths in 1978 and before becoming Pro-Warden I served as Head of Department. My academic background is as an historian of early modern Europe and my research has focused on the relationship between religious and social change in sixteenth-century Germany. I have a particular interest in urban history and in changing notions of the community and communal values.
