Developing web pages for publishing on Goldsmiths' website

1. Developing/editing existing web pages

You can edit/develop the Goldsmiths web pages in 2 ways:

  • by requesting training on the CMS in order for you to update the web pages yourself (this needs approval from the Head of your Dept and in co-ordination with any other web editors in your dept to avoid any overlap/conflict). There are regular classroom training sessions on using the CMS or we can train small groups on an adhoc basis. Training takes about 2 hours and no HTML knowledge is required.
  • by sending us your web requests via our online form or by emailing your requirements to webwork (@gold.ac.uk).
You can send your requests in the body of an email, in a word document or, if you wish, you can send an example web page of what you're hoping to achieve. Whichever is easiest for you.
Sending large attachments? It's easiest to zip these before sending them across. Alternatively, you can put your files in a folder on our k:drive (K:\webteam\InBox).

2. Creating a new Goldsmiths website

Before you begin, contact us. Any new Goldsmiths website must have approval from the Head of Web Services in order to meet Goldsmiths IT policy, Web Policy, Communications & Publicity policy and the Brand guidelines [PDF files]. We also want to ensure that your project meets accessibility guidlines, best practice guidleines and does not duplicate or conflict with any planned or existing online sites or facilities.

3. Creating a personal website

Staff or students can have access to web space on the dedicated 'Homepages' server for the creation of personal web projects. See further information 'Homepages'.
