Streaming Media
Audio and video files
Can we add music and video files to our web pages?
Yes. Our web server is robust enough and our broadband connection wide enough to be able to cope with streamed media. If you wish to add a media file to your College web page please send your request in the usual way (via our on-line form or email 'webwork').
If you have several large files please either zip these or put them on our k:drive (K:\webteam\InBox).
The files can either be 'streamed' (allows users to view your file bit by bit rather than having to wait for it to download), created as a simple download or made available as a 'podcast' (streamed files accessed via iTunes, for example).
What format should they be in?
.mp3, .mp4 or .mov files are best.
Do you have video editing facilities?
Our colleagues in Media Services can help with this. We have editing software and technicians available to help you edit and compress your files. Please contact Media Services for advice and support.
Live Streaming
Can we live stream our event on the College website?
Yes. Although there are some restrictions, for example we do not currently have staff and resources to film/record your event. You will have to arrange this yourself. We supply web page(s) to advertise your event and a page to view the live stream. A technician will be on hand during your event to enable the live stream.
Please always tell us your requirements well in advance of the event as we are limited to one live stream at a time as well as having staff and equipment limitations, particularly for out-of-hours events.
