How the application, selection and interview process works at Goldsmiths.

Our available jobs are listed on jobs.gold.ac.uk.

Applying online

See Guidance for making a job application (PDF download) for how to use our online application system.

We do not accept postal applications and invite applicants to apply for all vacancies online. If you have a disability that could make this difficult, then please email hr-recruitment (@gold.ac.uk) to discuss alternative arrangements.

The closing time for submitting a job application is 2359 UK time. HR staff are only available to assist with queries from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. We recommend submitting your application at least an hour ahead of the deadline, in case of any technical issues.

Filling in the application form

Each role will have an accompanying job description and person specification. This serves as an indication of what we are looking for.

Each criterion specified will be listed as essential or desirable. We will shortlist candidates who demonstrate they meet the essential criteria and as much as the desirable criteria as possible using a points-based system.

Those who score the highest will be invited to interview, so it is important to provide clear evidence on how you meet each criterion.

Shortlisting

Once the deadline has passed, the recruiting manager and shortlisting panel will consider all submitted applications. These will be assessed on how closely they match the requirements of the job description.

The shortlisting process can take several days depending on the number of applications that have been received. If you are selected, you will be invited to attend an interview.

If you have not received an invitation to interview within six weeks of the closing date, please assume that you have not been successful on this occasion.

Interview

If you are invited to interview, we will contact you via email as soon as possible after the shortlisting decision has been made. In this email you'll be provided with the full details about the interview including its format, directions to the campus, as well as details of any formal assessment exercise such as a test or presentation.

If attending an interview in person might be difficult, please contact hr-recruitment (@gold.ac.uk)  as it may be possible to arrange a video interview instead. If you have specific accessibility requirements, get in touch with the HR team to discuss any adjustments to the interview process. Goldsmiths is an accredited Disability Confident Employer.

While we will try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your needs in assigning interview dates and times, the interview panel may not always be available. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to rearrange an interview.

Selection

If you are selected, you will be contacted by the recruiting manager who will informally offer you the role, usually within 24-48 hours. They will then pass on your details to the HR department to arrange a formal offer.

At this stage HR will take up your references, arrange to check your right to work in the UK documents and send you an offer letter.
