Facilities

All halls have a kitchen with a cooker, refrigerator, freezer, microwave or combination oven as well as Wifi and access to laundry facilities.

Your room will have a bed, desk and chair and wardrobe and you will have either a shared bathroom and toilet or ensuite facilities, depending on the type of room you choose.

If you apply for a studio flat, you will have your own bathroom and kitchenette. Students choosing standard or en suite rooms will share the kitchen with other students. Most kitchens are shared between up to 8 or 10 students.

You will be responsible for keeping your room and the communal areas in your flat clean and tidy. Depending on the hall you will either have a vacuum cleaner in your flat or be able to sign one out from the on-site team.

Some of our halls have communal social areas and access to a garden area. For information on specific facilities, visit individual halls pages. Where necessary, there may be times when visitors and overnight guests may not be allowed in student accommodation, and the use of common rooms may be limited in the interest of our residents' health and safety.

There are no parking facilities in halls, except for Loring Hall where some car parking space is available for students with mobility issues.

Who will I be living with?

Our halls are mixed gender. You can expect to live with students of different nationalities and postgraduate and undergraduate students are usually housed in separate flats.

Upon application, you will be able to let us know if you would prefer to live in a flat with other students who identify as having a quieter lifestyle, or have any other requirements or sharing preferences, including if you would like to share a flat with more mature students. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but this will be subject to availability.

Residence Life

Resident Experience Coordinators (REC) are specific to halls of residence and run student-led social activities that help create a sense of community amongst residents. There are lots of ways to get involved, meet new people and enrich your time at university.

REC Linda said: "We make the arrangements for students to actually meet up and get to know each other, especially during the first few weeks of them moving in. But it's always something fun."

Social events will take place in halls, on campus and around London throughout the year, but we expect that a number of events will be run online to maintain social distancing and to comply with government guidelines. Event details will be posted on the halls noticeboards, as well as on the resident life Instagram and on the Facebook groups. You will be invited to join your hall’s social media group before moving into halls.

The RECs try to host a variety of events each month to offer something for everyone. These include film nights, craft events, trips to museums, nature walks, free breakfasts and so much more. The events are the perfect way to destress from the pressures of studying and are a great way to get to know the local area and to see the different things London has to offer!

Viewings and tours of the accommodation

Our rooms are occupied all year round, and unfortunately, we are unable to offer viewings or tours of the accommodation, as we are mindful of not disturbing the privacy of our students living in Goldsmiths student accommodation.

For information on our halls, explore the halls of residence options for 2023-24. We also have a photo gallery and virtual tour. Please note that photos on our website and accommodation portal are examples of our halls, and layouts and size of flats may vary.

What to bring with you

Make sure you bring bedding, bowls and plates, cutlery, saucepans and general cooking utensils, as well as toiletries, towels and cleaning products as it is your responsibility to provide these and keep your room tidy.

To take the hassle out of buying and transporting your bedding and kitchen items, you can order a kit for your bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, including food cupboard staples from UniKitOut. Your parcel will then be pre-delivered directly to your hall, so it is there ready and waiting for you in your room when you arrive. Visit the UniKitOut website and use discount code GOLDSMITHS10 to receive 10% off.

Basic possessions insurance is already included in your rent, but you may need to take out any additional cover for items such as bikes and laptops. If you’re bringing a TV to university then you’ll also need to organise a TV licence.

Accommodation codes

All of our halls of residence are signed up to one of two national student accommodation codes which protect students’ rights to safe, good quality accommodation.

Halls of residence managed by Goldsmiths are signed up to The Student Accommodation Code developed by Universities UK and GuildHE. Halls managed by private accommodation providers are signed up to the National Code of Standards for Larger Developments.
