Event overview
Monday evening talks arranged by the new Events and Experience MA at ICCE
Mimbre create nuanced, breathtaking and highly-skilled acrobatic theatre. They use a unique blend of acrobatic skills, dance, visual poetry and narratives to illuminate human connections and promote a positive image of women.
Founded in 1999 and female-led, the company has created and toured over 10 shows internationally. They collaborate with organisations such as the Roundhouse, Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre Wales, the Royal Opera House and English National Opera on exciting artistic collaborations. They also support the next generation of creative artists, with a vibrant and varied education programme, which includes a strong local community programme for young people in Hackney. They are an NPO, funded by the Arts Council England since 2006.
Join Communications Manager Jana Jammal for a look into the successes (and stumbles) of this small arts company and an insight into the outdoor arts and circus sectors through their work.
Jana Jammal is the Communication Manager at female-led Mimbre. She left her home town of Beirut to pursue a career in the arts in London which started with an MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy at Goldsmiths University. Jill of many trades and master of some, she’s a big fan of excel sheets, fundraising, and all things comms.
