Goldsmiths Confucius Institute are holding a day of free Chinese Culture taster sessions on the 13th December.

You are welcome to come along to one or more sessions during the day, please make sure to book tickets to each session you would like to attend.
Tai Chi - This class is accessible to all fitness levels and will introduce you to various forms, movements and exercises of this relaxing yet effective Martial Art. This form of exercise, renowned for its positive energy and controlled movements, is becoming increasingly popular in western culture. Regular practice of Tai Chi can improve your posture and breathing, assist with strategies for stress relief and increase flexibility and coordination.
Dance for Health & Wellbeing - The course that this taster class is based upon was created by the prestigious Beijing Dance Academy in China and is accessible to all fitness levels. Based on the principles of traditional Chinese dance-forms as well as the principles of traditional Chinese healthcare, this dance is intended to give you a fun way of keeping fit and promoting your general health and wellbeing. You will be taught dance moves and a repertoire that is specially structured to be easy to learn and accessible to all attendees, with no need for prior dance training.
Mandarin Chinese for beginners - This class is suitable for those with no prior experience of the language and provides students with basic vocabulary and grammar which act as the foundation of Mandarin Chinese.
Chinese Calligraphy - On this free taster session you will learn different types of brushstrokes and how to hold your brush correctly, before practicing Chinese characters such as Fu (luck) and Chun (Spring) often used in celebration of Spring Festival (Chinese New Year). This interesting taster session will also look at other types of Chinese painting and
watercolour work.
