A Cultural Hearth/ Un Camin Cultural, 18min, 16mm film by Irina Bucan and Jon Dean
Echoing Ada Pistiner's "A Cultural Hearth" (1977, SAHIA FILM), Alvin Lucier's writings on avant-garde music, Charles Ives Symphony no 4, and heteroanarchy (a term from the soviet cybernetics of the 60's), the new film attempts to create its own context by reproducing the conditions under which a "cultural hearth" can be imagined, on location in Slon village in the Prahova district, Romania.
