Event overview
CISJ event series in association with Athena Swan
This seminar will outline a study, carried out in Canada, which explored the experiences of trans children and youth, and their families, who access care during their prepubertal, pubertal and postpubertal stages of development. The research seeks to understand the motivations and pathways that lead trans children and youth and their families to seek care, the issues affecting them, the strategies they use to express and/or address dysphoria, and to navigate social and family situations, the various elements that contribute to their psychosocial well-being and quality of life; and the experiences associated with medical intervention.
The speaker will be Professor Annie Pullen Sansfaçon, Canada Research Chair on transgender children and their families, School of Social Work, Université de Montréal
The event is joint-sponsored by the Goldsmiths Athena SWAN Gender Equality working group and the Centre for Identities and Social Justice, Department of Educational Studies
