Nell Stevens is a writer of memoir and fiction. Her first book, Bleaker House, was published in 2017 by Picador (UK), Doubleday (US) and Knopf (Canada). Bleaker House, part memoir, part travelogue, part story collection, is an exploration of the narrow spaces between life and fiction, and the ways that writing can traverse and complicate genre.  A new memoir, Mrs Gaskell & Me, is forthcoming from the same publishers in 2018.
