Learning, Teaching and Enhancement Committee

Purpose

This Sub-Committee has been established to widen student access and participation, improve student retention and progression, and achieve improved education and employment outcomes for all students. It will provide strategic leadership in identifying and implementing of programmes of work, activities, and initiatives that support student access, progression, and outcomes, and monitor and evaluate progress in these areas. Each year the committee will identify and implement a programme of work to achieve its aims which will be evaluated annually.

Meeting Arrangements

  1. Membership of the sub-committee will be reviewed annually by sub-committee
  2. Members shall receive an induction to working on the sub-committee from the Chair or Secretary before attending the first meeting
  3. The sub-committee shall have at least three meetings every academic year, which will be timetabled on an annual basis and will take account of the schedule for Learning, Teaching and Student Experience Committee (LTSEC) to ensure appropriate reporting
  4. The minutes, agendas and papers for each meeting shall be sent to members at least seven days in advance. Only exceptionally and with the agreement of the Chair will papers be tabled at meetings
  5. The quorum shall be the greater of one-third of the total membership, not counting vacant places, or three members
  6. Where appropriate, the Chair of the sub-committee will delegate responsibilities for programmes of work to committee members and establish working groups comprised of members from the committee membership and other staff and students who might usefully contribute

Authority

The Subcommittee has delegated authority from LTSEC pertaining to matters of participation and outcomes for all students; as well as a specific remit to address matters outlined in Goldsmiths’ Access and Participation Plan. 

Duties

  1. To provide a strategic framework and identify programmes of work that aim to widen student access and participation, improve student retention and progression, and achieve improved education and employment outcomes for all students
  2. To establish programmes of work to support the implementation of activities and initiatives that aim to widen student access and participation, improve student retention and progression, and achieve improved education and employment outcomes for all students
  3. To monitor and evaluate progress towards improved student access, progression, and outcomes
