Winter 2017 graduation ceremonies
Winter graduation ceremonies at Goldsmiths will take place on Monday 18, Tuesday 19th, and Wednesday 20 December 2017.
You will graduate alongside fellow students from your department. Each department has been allocated a ceremony date and time which is listed below.
Ceremonies will be held in the Great Hall on campus followed by a marquee reception on College Green for you and your guests.

You will graduate alongside fellow students from your department.
Each department has been allocated a ceremony date and time. There will be two ceremonies each day in the Great Hall on campus followed by a marquee reception on College Green for you and your guests.
To attend your graduation ceremony you must book your tickets and academic robes in advance, details of how to do so are listed below.

Academic robe hire
Do I need to wear academic robes to my graduation ceremony?
Yes, all graduands are required to wear academic robes to their graduation ceremony.
Can I hire robes on the day?
Yes, if you are graduating but have not hired acadmic robes you must do so on the day. This should be done immediately after you have registered your attendance. The robing company will be set up in RHB 142/143.
What is the cost of the robe hire?
The cost of your robe hire is dependent on your level of study. Full details are available on the Robe Hire website.
Does Goldsmiths set the robe hire price?
No, robe hire costs are set by Ede & Ravenscroft, the official university robe hire company. All students across the country pay the same price.
Additional guest tickets
Graduands can purchase up to two Great Hall guest tickets for their ceremony. There is no guarantee that any additional Great Hall guest tickets for the December 2017 graduation ceremonies will become available.
Any available Great Hall guest tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of your ceremony up to a maximum of two additional tickets per graduand and at a cost of £25/ticket. The university will accept cash or cards for either pre-booked graduation ceremony tickets or those purchased on the day.
A ticketed live screening will also take place in Curzon Goldsmiths, our state-of-the-art cinema adjacent to the Great Hall. A strictly limited number of tickets for the Curzon Goldsmiths screening tickets will be made available for purchase after all Great Hall tickets have been allocated. The ticket price will include entry to the marquee reception on College Green after your ceremony. Details of these tickets and their availability will be published in early-December.
Additionally, a free and unticketed live screening of your ceremony will take place in the Ian Gulland Lecture Theatre adjacent to College Green. Guests watching the live stream there will be able to purchase a £15 ticket to attend the marquee reception after your ceremony.
Will there be official photographers at my graduation ceremony?
Yes, the university employs a professional photography company to take formal photographs of you, your family, friends, supporters, and loved ones in your academic robes. For this service there is a fee.
In addition, the Goldsmiths Communications team will attend your graduation ceremony and reception to capture images for our website, our social media channels, and for publicity material.
How much will my graduation photographs cost?
Details of the range of photography packages you can choose from will be available on your graduation day.
Do I need to pre-book photography?
No, there is no need to pre-book your graduation day photography.
When can I have my photographs taken?
You can be photographed as soon as you've got your academic robes on, either before or after your ceremony.
Where do I have my photographs taken?
A temporary photo studio will be set up in the refectory of the Richard Hoggart Building (RHB).
Additional graduation photography day
An additional graduation photography session will take place at Goldsmiths on Friday 10 November 2017. If you are unable to attend your graduation ceremony but would like to be photographed in your academic robes you should attend this session. Further details will be published on this page ahead of the session.
We are unable to arrange or offer parking for graduands or guests due to the limited availability of parking spaces on campus.
The only exception is if you or one of your guests has mobility issues or holds a blue badge. You should contact graduation (@gold.ac.uk) using the subject line “Graduation parking request” at the time of booking your ceremony tickets.
Limited parking spaces are available on some streets surrounding the campus however these are seldom available, particularly on graduation days.
The university will not be held responsible for penalty charge notices issued to vehicles incorrectly or improperly parked on or near the campus.
Heavy traffic congestion in the New Cross area is commonplace.
Goldsmiths strongly advises that you and your guests make your way to the university using public transport, wherever possible, on your graduation day to avoid arriving late. Late-comers and their guests will not permitted entry to the ceremonies.
You can view and purchase official graduation and Goldsmiths merchandise on campus at the First Class Honours stand in the Kingsway Corridor (by rooms RHB 142/143) on the days of the ceremonies or from the Goldsmiths Students' Union shop during the year.
You can also pre-order official merchandise directly from First Class Honours.
Student Centre services
Our Student Centre is based in room 117 of the Richard Hoggart Building (RHB) and can offer advice and guidance on a wide variety of issues.
The Wellbeing and Learning Support team offer an appointment-based service. To book an appointment please call the Student Centre on +44 (0)20 7919 7050 or visit in person on the day you would like to meet with the team.
All enquiries with the Student Centre are dealt with confidentially. No conversation or enquiries will be discussed with any other person outside of the department without you having given your permission for such a disclosure.
